the Define School

The Define School is a wonderful online school for evolving photographers.  Their mission? To provide online courses for both professionals and hobbyists. A place for individual artists to flourish.. an online community where evolving photographers could go to connect, learn and grow.  There are a wonderful collection of talented instructors sharing their experiences of running successful businesses in the arts and they are all there to share their story.

But simply imparting information is not the goal.  Students are equipped with knowledge and then encouraged to use it to create their own path.. to achieve total authenticity. And by connecting with other artists, they in turn, learn more about themselves.

The Define School also has a journal with a regular feature called 'What I Have To Say..' I am hugely honoured to be a part of this amazing community and immensely enjoyed writing something that had no real agenda.. just.. simply.. something I wanted to say..

You can read the full article HERE I also recommend reading through the whole of the journal and signing up for some classes.. these are good people with lots of good stuff to say.. :)

vsco journal

You know what.. I expect the protocol right now should be that I'm all cool about this but I'm not succeeding AT ALL.. a few days ago I was featured on the incredible VSCO Journal.  The photography they feature totally blows me away every single time and I'm not kidding.. I actually cannot believe that my photographs are on there.. and I couldn't be happier that they have featured my trip to Zambia with Sound Seekers..

Over the past three years there have been a few moments that stop me in my tracks.. where I look around and go 'Shit.. is this REALLY happening?'.  This feature truly means a lot to me and I'm not going to be embarrassed to say it..

And if I could give you one bit of advice... don't ever, ever, ever think those dreams of yours are too big.. because they do sometimes come true...

You can check out the full feature here

rue magazine

When Rue, San Fransisco's top online style (and all round gorgeousness) magazine emails to say they need a photographer to shoot the offices of MIH Jeans you a) squeal.. and b) take the job in a heartbeat.

The world's most amazing photographers who I have admired and looked up to from the very beginning of this journey grace their beautifully designed pages and that internal 'goals that seem impossible but I'll be damned to make them possible' list definitely had 'See my images in an issue of Rue'... so to me this isn't just some tear sheets with my photographs.  This represents another little milestone.. another achievement.. that dreams are totally possible and there is absolutely no reason why I should ever do anything but really go after them..

The incredible blog SFgirlbyBay also featured some of the images from the shoot.. (if you are in to your interiors you NEED this blog in your life. You can also see the full Rue (June 2012) issue and read all about the fabulous MIH Jeans and their amazing family history here.

featherlove (her so much!)

Anyone who reads my blog or my tweets will know the complete and utter major photography (ok... overall) crush I have on Noa aka Featherlove. Give me two minutes on the subject of photography and I will have mentioned her and her stupidly amazing, engulfingly inspirational work. I just can't help it. But I just know that as soon as you see her photos... you will love her too so I like sharing the love... it's a good thing.
I am now officially calling this week "Featherlove week" as I have two lovely things to share with you to which I am still a little overwhelmed by them both...
Firstly, lovely Rosie Parsons asked if I would like to interview Noa for The Photography Parlour... I bloody jumped at the chance and you can read the full interview here....

Then back in April I actually got to meet Noa. She came over with her husband's band ASTRA and me and Pete did an Enagagement shoot with her which was so amazing.... and she literally sent me the photos yesterday and I cannot get over how much I love them. Not only because of the colours and the composition and the feel and the beauty of them but also because to me they are the story of my own photography... what I love, how I feel, what inspires me, who I love... all in one picture. I am honestly going to treasure them forever.
You can see all of the pictures on Featherlove's blog which includes the sweetest write up by the lady herself and you can also head over to Rock 'n Roll Bride as Kat blogged them too (in sync with eachother!)
Here are two of my favourite shots from the shoot... these are going on my wall :)

Love love love love crazy love.......

The Photography Parlour

The Photography Parlour is a fab new website for both pro and aspiring photographers run by the ever so talented Ms Rosie Parsons.....

Rosie got in touch asking if I would like to be featured in their 'My First Assignment' section.... errrrr YES PLEASE! She sent me over some questions and it was so therapeutic answering them! It actually made me sit back and really appreciate the last 5 months as they have actually flown by so fast that I'm still trying to gather my arse most of the time.

Check out The Photography Parlour for the full interview!
Thanks Rosie!
