I can't believe it's that time again.. this year is going SO fast.. but we now have some new Welcome Home dates as a few of you have been asking when and where the next ones will be happening.. soooo.. we have two new dates for you!

We had quite a few suggestions about where to hold the workshops so we've tried to go for the easiest and most central for everyone.. (fingers crossed!)..

The Welcome Home workshop will focus on developing your artistic voice, finding your niche market, understanding and developing your brand, valuing the client experience, managing expectations and staying inspired.

Within these topics we will also be covering...

- Artistic Style

- Attracting your ideal client

- Understanding your 'why'

- Marketing

- Shooting

- Post Processing

- Pricing

- Workflow

- Client relationships and experience

There will also be a shoot in the afternoon so feel free to bring your cameras.. :)

But it's not just about what you experience on the day.  Welcome Home has become a strong community of supportive photographers who share advice and experiences... they second shoot for each other and are even shooting each other's weddings.  We're proud to be a part of such a wonderfully supportive and positive bunch of mo fos..

We now have a total of 140 homies in the group.  They chat every day asking questions and offering each other advice and have been on hand for each other whether that's a pricing issue or needing to borrow kit for a wedding... oh and they also like a good laugh and a good dance.. :)

• An invitation to the amazing Welcome Break next April

This 2 day retreat was born out of the homies wanting to get together.. especially as many of them attended different workshops but felt like they knew each other from the FB group.  So in April it was Welcome Break time!  We headed to a wonderful farm in Warwick and slept in Yurts and teepees.. ate good food, played rounders, danced and did the conga.. and then hated it when we had to leave.  It was better than we ever could have imagined and we can't wait for the next one!

• Exclusive opportunities for one to one mentoring sessions

Soon we will be offering homies one to one mentoring sessions as part of Welcome Home.  After the workshop it's always incredible to watch attendees build, develop and make changes to their businesses and I think a natural progression is to spend some time looking at the effect of these changes.. what's working.. what maybe isn't working so well.. and why.  These sessions will be tailored to you and will be offered exclusively to attendees of Welcome Home.

Both Birmingham and London workshops are limited to 15 places and you can book your spot HERE.

Instalments

A few of you have emailed to ask if you can pay in instalments so we wanted to let peeps know that if you'd like to come and join us then you can secure your place now with a £200 deposit with the remaining amount due by the 1st September 2014.. :)

WELCOME HOME 2014

Over the past couple of months we've been up and down the country with our Spring Welcome Home Workshops. We've been up to Leeds and down to London and we've now welcomed another 40 homies in to the family and we still have another workshop over in Belfast this week.. (which we're super excited about!!)..

These workshops have literally blown our mind.  When we started them just over two years ago I knew we wanted to give two things.. the practical help.. so the tangible tips that can be applied to their business.. but.. much more than that we wanted them to go away with those butterflies.. that feeling in the pit of your stomach that makes you excited.. that pure drive, that confidence, that positivity.. the feeling that there is literally nothing stopping you.

I'm going to be totally honest.. what we've ended up with is something that takes those butterflies and multiples it by 1000.  The journey that we all go on on the day.. the connection.. the realisations.. the confirmation.. the freedom.. the answers.. the release.. I actually feel a bit stupid writing it.. but it's been incredible .. and if you're a homie.. you know exactly what I mean… :)

It's become about something so much more than photography.   So much more than how to market your business.. or what to charge.. it's about all that important shit that you push to the side.  All the stuff that you forget about when you have emails and deadlines and clients… it's about the stuff that really matters..

We're so grateful that we get to share Welcome Home with a bunch of the most amazing people.  And that's what they are.  A>M>A>Z>I>N>G.  They walk in and they give and they share and they're open and they're honest and they let that guard down and they are themselves and because of that, this family of peeps just gets better and better..

So.. what do we get up to?  Well there's a lot of talking.. (and quite often a few tears).. but there's also some photo taking too.. so here's some of all three gorgeous couples that came to be manhandled in front of a group of strangers for the afternoon.. :)

First up we had the lovely Chris and Gillian travel all the way down from Glasgow for our Leeds workshop..

Then Michelle and Colm came to Belt Craft in London and rocked it…

Then we had the infectiously happy Georgie and Alice at our second workshop in London.. (Georgie also wrote a blog post about the workshop from her perspective and it's pretty awesome.. go take a read)

welcome home {Dublin and Brum}

So we did another two workshops! One at our office in the Custard Factory and one in the beautiful city of Dublin!  It feels quite a while ago now but having said that.. looking over the images from all the homies that came and shared.. again.. I feel so bloody thankful that we get to do them and how the little bubble of Welcome Home always seems to feel so special..

So first up.. Dublin.. we headed over with the lovely Lee and Dawn from Shutterbox Films and with a day to chill.. pretty much ate our way around the city.  We enjoyed the most amazing Bento Box from ukiyo (you have to go there) and then later that night we had the most beautiful 3 course dinner at our workshop venue.. Fallon&Byrne.. (you have to go there too!).. see I told you we ate a lot.  

The following day we headed back to Fallon & Byrne to meet a new bunch of homies.. and what an amazing bunch.  We laughed a lot, maybe cried a little bit, had the best lunch provided by Fallon & Bryne (including the biggest sandwiches you've ever seen - so big Dawn called them 'events') and then had the absolute pleasure of photographing the gorgeous Kate and Brian for the afternoon.  After the workshop we all then headed to a Mexican for the best tapas and to catch up with the lovely ladies from One Fab Day.  Add a cooked breakfast the following morning and we had truly eaten our way through Dublin.. and as you might have guessed.. we loved every single minute of it.  I'm actually embaressed to say that I'd never been over to Ireland before.. and this is definitely going to be my first trip of many..

So first up.. our amazing friends/partners in crime, Shutterbox Films made us another friggin' amazing little film of our Dublin workshop.. honestly.. these guys blow us away every single time.  It was so nice as this time I said to Lee to just play.. there was no agenda as we'd filmed other workshops before so he was free to be creative.. and this is what this pair do best.. give them your wedding.. your event.. give them the reigns and just watch the magic.. :)  We can never thank these guys enough and we have an absolute ball with them every time..

I also want to say a huge thank you to all that helped us out for both these workshops.. we couldn't have done it without you guys!!

The following week we were back and cosy in our office and had another 14 new homies join the ever-growing group!  This was our second workshop at the office and it was quite a squish but the group were fantastic.. completely opening up, sharing ideas.. giving so much inspite of their much bigger audience.  We also had the gorgeous Adam aka Mr Rock My Wedding and his beautiful lady Lizzie model for us which was bloody lovely.  Adam hadn't had a couple shoot before so it was so so nice to be able to give them the experience and also some photos of them together.. they totally nailed it and were an absolute pleasure to shoot.Again.. (I feel like a bit of a broken record) but every time we do another workshop I'm blown away.  When I first looked at what I wanted to talk about I never realised just how important it was to me.  I've learnt so much about myself.. about my style.. about what is truly important to me as a photographer and to me as a person.  I have learnt something from each homie that comes and shares their story and with each workshop I go away feeling more positive, more inspired, more creative and more determined about this wonderful journey we're on..Here's some of my images of Adam and Lizzie followed by a selection of images of the day from some of the homies.. :)

We now have over 70 homies and have had our first 'Welcome Break' last week where 30 of us went glamping and danced our socks off.  The Facebook group is a huge melting pot of advice, support and laughs and by coming on this workshop every single one of them has made a pledge... to nurture and invest in this family we have created but also to nurture and invest in themselves.. to look at their 'home', whatever, wherever or whoever that might be.. and to be honest and open about their journey. It just doesn't get much better...
